Skeleton Knight WIP

Progress is slow on this one, but I thought it went quite nicely with the little axe guy I'm doing - and I needed a little break from him. So - here's an early WIP.

The leftmost one has no arm, so you can see the abdomen more clearly - I will remove the helmet on this one also to show the head. A face study and more detail on weapon/helmet/arm parts will be arranged around it. I currently have no idea whether to include the horns or not.. (one horn?) they bolt on to the holes either side of the skull/helmet. Actual head is very much lower down and would be looking out through the open jaw or alternatively maybe electronically via the eyes in the skull (silly I know).

I'll probably whack some more texture in there too - but if anyone has any crits feel free to let me know about it.

Axe Soldier

Here's a little mixed up soldier - His armour is similar to some that I sketched at the V+A, then mixed with some other bits and bobs. Giant axe ftw! The original is 4000x4000 in photoshop, but I've resized down so some detail does get a bit lost. This is the second stage work in progress - so I just have to noodle in more details now.

He's got some flaming orange decorative boogers going on.

Monogram + Doodle

Finally figured out a monogram that seems to work. Also played with photoshop settings to get a sketching template - works pretty nicely! Hence all the doodles....

Zbrush Torso study

I'm getting more into Zbrush. If I'm honest, I haven't really read up much on how I'm meant to be doing things in this... So I will most likely have to go back and remodel. This is very much just studying how the clay brushes work in Zbrush 3.5 - It's all just from my head with no ref, so excuse any completely imaginary musculature :)

I'm thinking of adding the previously posted Yakuza head to this. Sculpting a Kimono drape - a set of hands and the kneeling pose. Again, just to practice painting onto the model in Zbrush, so - it's tattoo research time (and swatting up on Zbrush time)!

Zbrush learning

So I installed 3.5 R3 - (Pixelogic Zbrush). It's great fun to play around with. I'm mainly using the claytubes tool to build up layers right now - I'm sure I should get faster at this ... but it's fun nonetheless. So go go pompadour yakuza action!

Mr.Old Robot

Nearly done on this. Probably will leave in monotone... but was tempted to give it a very silly paintjob.

Ms. Fairy Mantisbug is complete

I've got this one practically finished - but as I say that I'm noticing that she has two different knee's and some other bits that could be improved. I'll just edit this post rather than covering my blog with fairies... but here's the completed pic. I'll post some 100% crops tomorrow, but for now, sleep I think.

Mr. Snow Crab #1

So I thought I'd have a go at some creature design - Got momentarily distracted whilst designing a 'burrowing snow crab'. Crabs like sandwiches right? At least... I like crab sandwiches...  anyway, here's the WIP.
